After taking an ample rest at the cozy hotel, our family members were full of energy. The weather in Barcelona is so nice that the sky is clear with white clouds floating in the morning. Under this good weather, our family members harbored an exciting mood to start today’s journey.
What came first today was a tour to Plaza Espanya, Columbus Monument and Montjuïc. Built on the foot of Montjuic for the 1929 International Exhibition, Plaza Espanya is one of the most important squares in Barcelona, which is the junction of four major thoroughfares. The fountain at the center also highlights the square, making the square more vibrant. Our family members followed the tour guide and looked around to appreciate the square and took a lot of photos under Fundacio Joan Miro to preserve the wonderful moments.
After that, we headed to a renowned Barcelona attraction: Montjuïc, which is a broad shallow hill where you can overlook the harbor. Our family members were amazed after reaching the top of the mountain: shown in front of them was a breathtaking view of the beautiful beach and the boundless cityscape. This is one of the most popular sceneries printed on postcards and a typical panoramic view in Barcelona.
After a lunch break, we continued the second half of today’s journey – Sagrada Familia, which is one of the landmark buildings and the most visited attraction in Barcelona. As we have introduced before, this large Catholic church remains unfinished since 1882 because the construction funding relies on private donations. This architectural masterpiece is more stunning than shown in the photos since the design of the facades are very detailed and delicate while the interior design is also spectacular. Entering the basilica, our family members were totally astonished by its 45m high vaulted ceiling and slender tree-like column. On top of these fabulous designs, the colored light reflecting from countless stain glass windows shed into the basilica and build a fancy ambiance. Concentrated on the vivid introduction from the tour guide, our family members observed every detail and artistic feature of the basilica. The visit to Sagrada Familia allowed them to witness this gorgeous masterpiece in person and they were hugely impressed.
Our family members got to know Barcelona more deeply with today’ fabulous itinerary. All of them looked forward to tomorrow’s itinerary!
